Dermal fillers are a gel like substance, that when injected into the dermal layer of the skin, plump up tissues and ‘fill’ the area. They can be used to soften and contour lines and folds. They can also be used to restore lost volume and elasticity to some areas. Dermal fillers can be used alone or in conjunction with facial line softening to maximise results.
There are different types of dermal filler, depending on the area to be treated and the severity of the lines/folds. At HW Aesthetics, all dermal fillers are temporary treatments, lasting approx. 6-12 months and all use a substance called Hyaluronic Acid.
HA comes in prefilled syringes of 0.5 -2mls depending on the type. The procedure takes approx. 20-60 mins depending on site/severity of lines. A numbing cream is applied to the area which takes approx. 30 mins to work. The filler is administered through either a small hypodermic needle or a cannula (where suitable). There can be more than one injection to each area being treated, although the use of a cannula often reduces the amount of injection sites.
Every person’s face is different and as such it would be impossible to explain all procedures here on the website, however the in depth consultation will clarify all details of procedures relevant to the client.
